Mike Ilitch is reportedly close to a deal to buy the Detroit Pistons.
Ilitch, founder of the Little Caesars pizza chain already owns two other Detroit sports franchises--Major League Baseball Detroit Tigers, and the National Hockey League Detroit Red Wings. [1] He interested in Pistons for several months before saying that he wanted to buy the team, so that none of their move to another city.
Some suspect that his real motivation is to strengthen the case for the acquisition of a new area in downtown Detroit, which would serve as the home of the Red Wings and the Pistons.
